
Some of the mature industrial sectors in Catalonia include: transport material, plastics, chemicals (Tarragona chemical cluster), pharmaceuticals, advanced electronics, textiles-clothing, machinery and mechanical equipment, metallurgy and metal products, paper and printing and food and beverages. These sectors have created clusters of knowledge and specialities that offer numerous opportunities for new investments in Catalonia. New industries are biotechnology, renewable energies or recycling industries.
Services to companies, trade, energy and transport suppliers, telecommunications and finances are new "industrial-related" activities that, together with "traditional" industry, account for 66% of Catalan GDP and 56% of employment.
