Invest in Catalonia is the investment promotion department of ACC1Ó, the Catalan agency that promotes foreign trade, inward investment and innovation. ACC1Ó is part of the Ministry of Innovation, Universities and Enterprise of the Catalan Government.

Invest in Catalonia has its headquarters in Barcelona and, in collaboration with ACC1Ó's 35 Business Promotion Centres, provides advisory services and assistance adapted to the needs of companies interested in setting up or expanding their operations in Catalonia. The services offered are confidential, free of charge and tailor-made.

History

Catalonia was pioneer in Spain in the foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction policies. In 1985 Catalan Government created the first development agency of its kind in Spain and for more than twenty years it has played a key role in the process of attracting FDI to Catalonia.

Some of the companies helped get started include: Agilent Technologies, Accenture, Avis, BASF, Boehringer Ingelheim, Dow Chemical, Aleo Solar, GEC Alsthom, Procter&Gamble, Honda, Kao, Nissan, Sanofi-Aventis, Pioneer, Renault, Volvo, etc.

Catalonia has consolidated itself as one of the most dynamic regions in Europe when it comes to attracting multinationals: there are currently 3,000 such companies in Catalonia, 800 of which are industrial firms.

Mision

Invest in Catalonia's mission is to promote and attract solid business investments in Catalonia, especially those economically and technologically sound that are expected to generate wealth and stable, quality employment.

In the last years (2004-2008) Invest in Catalonia has worked annually on an average of 150 projects and managing more than € 1,800 milion in investment, and has contributed to the establishment of 140 new investment projects, with the creation and maintenance of 11,600 jobs and investments totalling € 1,200 milion.
